Boomerang Portable Basketball Return System - Features

The Boomerang – Portable Basketball Return System is an innovative new Australian product designed to capture and retrieve basketballs during shooting practice, whilst improving shooting technique by encouraging “optimum trajectory” i.e. “angle of release”.

The Boomerang assists players to greatly enhance the efficiency and productivity of their practice time by permitting them to get approximately 6 times more shots up in the same amount of time and eliminating the need for a coach, training partner or parent to do the tedious rebounding and retrieval.

Increased repetition and development of muscle memory...
The Boomerang, used with 3 or 4 basketballs, increases repetition and importantly greatly reduces the “time delay” between shot attempts. Reducing the “time delay” maximises the effectiveness of the feedback from the previous shot allowing the player to instantly make the necessary adjustments to their shot and get into a groove (or rhythm) of “high volume”, “high quality” practice which helps develop muscle memory.

Halo shaped net system…
The Boomerang’s unique “halo shaped" net system is set at a scientifically determined height to encourage optimum shot trajectory (angle of release) for free throw shooting and mid range jump shooting without being “too high” that younger children cannot use it effectively.

Ease of use…
The Boomerang can be easily set up or taken down in approximately 4 to 5 minutes respectively.

Compact design for easy storage…
The Boomerang collapses to an incredibly small total volume of 260cm (8’ 6”) x 40cm (1’ 4”) x 40cm (1’ 4”) for easy storage or transportation.

Portability…
When set up, the Boomerang is “free standing” (i.e. does not attach to the backboard) and is extremely light and easily wheeled into place under the basket or wheeled away for storage.

Adjustable ball return ramp…
The Boomerang’s ball return ramp is extendable and retractable and slews through a 225˚ range of motion permitting the ball to be returned to anywhere on the court within a 7.4 metre radius from the basket.

Adjustable ball stop feature…
The Boomerang features an adjustable ball stop which can easily be clamped onto any position of the ramp or be completely removed to allow the ball to run off the end of the ramp.

Optional attachment positions for ball return chute…
The Boomerang can be used either “with”, or “without” the complete ball return ramp. Using the Boomerang without the complete ball return ramp, the ball simply rolls of the end of the ball return “chute” and bounces back to the user. When using the ball return chute on the “lower” attachment position, a properly inflated basketball will bounce back to the user’s hands when in the “triple threat” stance at the free throw line. Mounting the ball return chute on the “higher” attachment position, a properly inflated basketball will return to the user’s hands when in a “triple threat” stance outside the FIBA international 3 point line on the second bounce. This gives players the option of “catch and shoot” practice without having to take the ball out of the ramp.

Indoor or outdoor use…
All components of the Boomerang are completely weatherproof; the frame is zinc plated inside and out prior to being powder coated and the entire unit can be set up year round in the backyard or driveway if required.

Simple, effective unblocking system…
The Boomerang is ideally designed for individual practice with one player using 3 or 4 basketballs; however it is also an extremely effective and versatile training tool which can also be used for multiple players or “group” shooting drills.
It is simple physics that 3 basketballs will not fit (simultaneously) through a hole designed for one; whilst the Boomerangs patented netting system is designed for smooth, quick funnelling of basketballs to the ball return chute, from time to time (mainly during drills involving multiple players shooting simultaneously) the net infrequently can become blocked with 3 basketballs. With the Boomerang this is no problem at all; to “unblock”, simply tug on the ball unblocking strap and the basketballs dislodge and shooting can continue with minimal disruption.

The Boomerang is suitable for use with both size 6 and size 7 regulation basketballs.
